The comments came during a public meeting at the State Capitol in which El Dorado County District Attorney Vern Pierson outlined the short-comings of the parole system. “It was the single greatest mistake to release somebody that early, that dangerous,” said Pierson of Garrido’s parole after serving just 11 years for kidnapping and raping a woman in Nevada.
